Hello, I'm trying to convince my parents like to buy a hybrid car. Fuel consumption is great, but there are federal tax incentives or other incentives for people to buy hybrids? What other benefits for hybrid drivers?

The tax credit for hybrid vehicles in the United States law was with the Energy Policy Act of 2005. The hybrid vehicle powered or replacement (must be purchased or funded) new and unused or used. They can not be rented (the leasing company is the owner, if you buy on credit, not) you. In addition, they must be used primarily in the U.S..
How much of a tax credit on federal income depend on the United States, which have hybrid model you purchased and the date of purchase.

Frankly, I think hybrid cars are not really worth the extra cost. You could use the money and buy a cheaper fuel-efficient cars, and always have great thrift. The thing about hybrids is that the cost is much more, just a little more MPG program. If you help the environment, encouraging their parents to places that are closer on foot. Invest in a bike and a good pair of shoes. And rather than take the car after 2 blocks on the road. Walk or jog or bike there. There are other ways to help the environment than buying a hybrid car. Can be improved simply drive less.
Get an electric (hybrid, hydrogen, methane) car is the right way, but you want to wait for lower prices. Give it 5 years and see what is available. You can always a car on LPG or transform your car. Some governments provide an incentive. The gas is cheaper in general. You can drive as an alternative diesel, but diesel can be more expensive.
At least in some places you can drive the carpool lane, regardless of individuals or the number of passengers.
